  • Orbits Kokon Sweater Kit Information

Orbits is the fourth design in Rachel's Einaudi Collection – knitwear patterns inspired by pieces of music written by Ludovico Einaudi. And features stranded colourwork through the majority of the yoke and into the upper body and sleeves, with patterns that capture the mysterious, repetitive yet delicate essence of the music.

I'm thrilled to be able to offer Orbits as a kit that includes Kokon Merino Fingering and a Ravelry download code for the pattern.

There is a choice between the original colourway Moon and Space or eight carefully selected colourways; Rust and Rose Gold, Copper and Rust, Sea and Cacti, Oxidized and Sea, Leaf and Clay, Copper and Ice, Stone and Night, Rock and Dawn.

Orbits Kits are available in the following sizes in XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL). It's recommended the wear with 4-8” / 10-20cm of positive ease as the bust. For example for 36" bust with 6" of positive ease you would knit medium.

The finished bust measurements (shown in inches) for each size are as follows

    XS S M L XL 2XL 3XL 4XL 5XL
    36" 39" 42" 45" 51" 54" 60" 63" 66"

For a full schematic and measures see here.

    You will also need

    • 3.25mm / US size 3 circular needles (varying cable lengths would be helpful to suit yoke, body and sleeves)
    • 2.75mm / US size 2 circular needles (varying cable lengths would be helpful to suit neckband, waistband and cuffs)
    • 1 marker
    • scrap yarn

The sweater is worked seamlessly from the top-down. Short row shaping is incorporated to optimise the fit. The majority of the yoke features a stranded colourwork pattern which is worked from a chart. Once the yoke is completed, stitches are separated into body and sleeves, which are each worked separately and in the round. Stranded colourwork is incorporated into the upper body and sleeves. The lower body and sleeves are finished in stocking stitch using the main colour.

Kokon Merino Fingering are also available to purchase as individual skeins from our online shop.
