Time for a New Adventure with Kelbourne Woolens Camper

I love unboxing a new yarn; there's no better feeling when a delivery arrives; it's like Christmas and birthdays all rolled into one!

This week saw the arrival of Kelbourne Woolens brand new yarn Camper. I've been on the lookout for a non-superwash woolen spun yarn for a while, so I was super happy when Kate and Courtney at Kelbourne Woolens announced they were launching Camper this Spring.

Camper is the fingering weight version of KW Scout, and just like Scout, it's is a strong and versatile 100% wool yarn with a soft hand. Designed with classic knitting and crochet in mind, it is unfussy yet beautiful. It comes in a gorgeous heathered colour palette making it an ideal choice for knitting colourwork.

Alongside Camper, Kelbourne Woolens has published a collection of seven patterns. The collection showcases the beautiful qualities of Camper with colourwork and is available digitally from Kelbourne Woolens.

• Laurel Hill is a sweet colourwork hat by Kate Gagnon Osborn. Laurel Hill uses three colours of Camper and starts with a provisional cast on for the wide 1 x 1 ribbing, which is folded and then worked in stranded colourwork from a chart.
• Cumberland Falls is worked in the round from the top down; this pretty colourwork cardigan is then finished off with a steek. Courtney Kelly's pattern is definitely for the more experienced knitter or someone looking to broaden their knitting know-how.
• Another beautiful colourwork pattern from Courtney Kelly, Ridley Creek, is a classic hat and scarf set. It's worked in the round in stranded colourwork from charts. Kelbourne Woolens do an excellent tutorial if you have shied off working from charts before.
• Latvian Braid is a knitting technique I've not tried before, so I'm very tempted to cast on Moreau Lake by Kate Gagnon Osborn. Two colours of Camper are used in this intricate mitten design.
• Not to be left out are the youngsters with another design by Kate Gagnon Osborn, Baxter Peak. This time a bottom-up knit, it covers sizes six months through to ten years. There's stranded colourwork along the bottom of the sweater body and sleeves, and it's then mirrored on the yoke of the sweater. Your imagination only limits the possible colour combinations for this design.
• Presque Isle completes the garments for this collection. It shows just how Kelbourne Woolens has given a lot of thought and consideration to the range of colours they offer Camper in. While most of this crew neck sweater is knit in stocking stitch, the icing on the cake is the stunning stranded colourwork yoke that uses five colours of Camper. It's both eye-catching and makes for an interesting knitting project.
• Our final pattern for this collection is Kate's Selbu Modern which she has reworked for KW Camper. Two colours of Camper are needed to knit this cute colourwork hat which begins with a simple 1 x 1 ribbing and is finished off with a pom pom!
