Star Struck

Knitting lace doesn't have to be daunting if you've not tried it before maybe it's time and I might have the pattern for you! Catch My Fall is Melanie Berg's latest shawl design. Her patterns are always very well written and easy to follow. She has all her knitting patterns extensively tested; knitters are queuing up to test her patterns!

Catch My Fall Shawl

Here's what Melanie says about her design, Catch My Fall

The act of knitting has a special magic.

Losing yourself in a project can bring you joy in a hard moment, a joy which is captured in every stitch and passed on when you gift the finished project to a friend.

“Catch My Fall” perfectly embodies that magic. The simple, repetitive pattern is easy to knit and works up quickly due to the heavy yarn weight, with a wide lace border and a texture of falling stars in the body.

Instructions for this shawl are both written and charted; I find following a chart for lace easier than reading written instructions. I use a ruler or washi tape to guide me through the row I'm working on so I don't lose my place.

Melanie has knit her shawl in Árd Thir by Kate Davies Designs. Árd Thir an Aran weight yarn; it is a lovely blend of highland wool and alpaca, so knits up quickly and it blocks beautifully opening up the lace to reveal it's true glory.
