Life in the Long Grass - Summer Mists, River Swim - Tangled Yarn

Life in the Long Grass has just released their second magazine for Summer 2020. Summer Mists, River Swim has been in the works for the past year, Caroline Niland of LITLG has published a beautiful edition despite the trials and tribulations that lockdown has brought.

Shown Doloras, Akebia, Daybreak Sweater and Lithops

There are seven designs featured that include socks, sweaters and shawls. All have been beautifully photographed not a stone's throw from the Life in the Long Grass dye studio in West Cork, Ireland using Siana LITLG packing room manager to model the knitwear.

Each of the designs encapsulates the beauty of the hand-dyed yarn. If you are a crocheter I'm happy to report that La Digue Shawl is especially for you, it uses four colours of fingering weight yarn. While the other shawl design uses three skeins, Algal Blossom Shawl is ideally suited to an immediate knitter with intarsia ribbing, cables and eyelets.

The socks that adorn the front cover are a toe-up construction with a contrast heel, toe and cuff. Tuiscint Socks are the ideal summer project and use two skeins of LITLG Fine Sock.

There are three pullovers, and one cardigan with a mix of cables, twisted stitches and feminine lace, each of these designs offers a good range of sizes.

    Sweater Size Guide:
Litop Tweed Cardigan – 85 to 155 cm bust
Akebia Mohair Sweater – 85 to 155 cm bust
Dolores Sweater – 80 to 125 cm bust
Daybreak Sweater – 80 to 162.5 cm bust

Summer Mists, River Swim explores the countryside of West Cork with an insiders guide to the area. From food to foraging, woodland walks and flowing rivers West Cork is undoubtedly a place that is to be explored further.

The designers featured in this issue are Valentina Bogdanova, Rachel Illsey, Helda Panagary, Tina Tse, Coraline Kerisit and Rebekka Mauser.

Life in the Long Grass Fine Sock shown in Chrysalis, Gorse, Lughnasa, Queen and Terracotta

Also to have arrived this week was Life in the Long Grass Fine Sock, we are adding this as an alternative to our usual offerings from LITLG. Sadly because of the pandemic, the yarn used for LITLG Moon isn't currently available. So I thought this would be the ideal time to try something different from LITLG, I felt the Tangled Yarn shelves wouldn't be quite the same without Caroline's beautifully hand-dyed yarns.

LITLG Fine Sock is a fingering weight yarn it offers good yardage with 460 yards (435m) on a 100g skein. A blend of 75% Superwash Merino and 25% nylon it's not only suitable for socks it's a good yarn choice for knitting shawls and summer weight cardigans as it has a lovely stitch definition.

Caroline's colours are stunning; she has an exceptional way with dye, creating colour that reflects nature and the beautiful surrounding countryside and coastline of West Cork. We have 32 colours in LITLG Fine Sock which I know you are going to love!
