We have a new DK yarn! Kokon Merino DK is the latest addition to the Tangled Yarn shelves; this superwash Merino is sublime. Kokon Yarn is a small independent yarn company founded by Michelle du Plessis. Based in the Netherlands, Kokon specialises in yarns from South Africa, where Michelle grew up. Their Merino is ethically sourced from the Cape region of South Africa, it is mulesing-free.
By taking four plies of yarn to make Merino DK and twisting them together tightly, you have a bouncy yarn that has a soft hand; it creates knitted pieces with a great stitch definition. As the name suggests, this is a double knitting yarn when working a 4mm needle, you can expect a gauge of 22 stitches per 10cm. When knitting with Kokon Merino DK on a larger needle, you can look to get closer to a worsted weight gauge of 18 stitches per 10cm. Kokon Merino DK is genuinely a versatile yarn.

Kokon has also added new colours to their Merino Linen and Slubby Mohair; five new colours for autumn that are a lovely addition to both yarns.
Tangled Yarn now stocks Merino Linen in 14 colours, the combination of 90% merino and 10% linen in this single-ply fingering weight yarn makes for muted dreamy shades. Merino Linen lends itself well to drapey shawls such as Ashbrook by Tamy Gore, but it works equally well for sweaters, such as Isabell Kraemer’s Clapton.
Slubby Mohair is full of fun! A bouclé yarn with a blend 78% mohair, 13% Merino and 9% nylon, it knits up to a chunky gauge on 5.5-8mm needles. Kokon’s Slubby Mohair is perfect paired with Merino Linen for patterns like Eri’s Poodle Pullover and Snoep Shawl.
